I've been a massage therapist for almost 25 years.
I originally trained at Dean Associates/National Holistic Institute
in California in the late 1970's. I then completed an additional
500 hours of training at the Polarity Therapy Center, the Acupressure
Institute, the School of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin Hot Springs,
and the National Holistic Institute in 1985.
I have completed more than 600 hours of continuing education since
moving to Seattle and becoming licensed in Washington in 1982.
During the 1980's/early 1990's, I did software training/consulting
and wrote/co-wrote over 20 computer books, while maintaining my
massage practice. During this period, I developed/conducted a series
of brownbag workshops on workplace ergonomics, which remains a prime
interest of mine.
In previous incarnations, I was an actor and director, and held
multiple jobs including waitressing and construction estimating
to support the aforementioned acting and directing.
My burning desire: Get everyone to use headsets, touchpads, ergonomic
chairs, sit-stand desks, and, oh yeah, take a few deep breath every
now and then.
Key to success: Listen, care, laugh, and keep learning. |
